A good idea for a masquerade costume could be a Zorro costume. You can get male and female costumes and they have the mask to keep your identity secret too. And they are pretty cool costumes too, what with all the sword fighting and robbing the rich to give to the poor ethic.
Mardi Gras is a great excuse for dressing up and partying. The costumes are great, the people are great and the atmosphere is amazing.
